Siemens won an order to build Helwin2 link

TenneT TSO GmbH, the transmission operator in Germany, has awarded a multi-million euro contract to Siemens Energy and Prysmian consortium to build the Helwin2 link. The Helwin2 is a 690MW HVDC link to bring the wind power from Amrumbank West offshore wind farm to German transmission grid. Siemens will be deploying its HVDC Plus technology. Prysmian, the Italian cable manufacturer, will be supplying the cable. Helwin2 is expected to be operational in 2015. The total contract is valued at €600 million.
